GUITAR DOJO

The 1st 30 Days
Welcome to the most exciting month of your musical life! In this 30-day journey, you’ll go from holding your guitar for the very first time to confidently strumming your very first song. Whether you’re 8 or 80, this course is designed to be fun, clear, and motivating—no boring drills, no endless theory with no purpose. Instead, every day is an adventure combining hands-on guitar skills, bite-sized music theory, and cool stories about the legends who shaped music history.
Course Overview
Over the course of 30 days, you will:
-
Master essential guitar fundamentals—holding the guitar, tuning, and getting clean notes.
-
Play your first chords and strumming patterns.
-
Learn to change between chords smoothly without feeling like your fingers are wrestling each other.
-
Understand just enough music theory to know what you’re doing (without feeling like you’re in math class).
-
Discover iconic guitarists, bands, and moments in music history—from the birth of rock ‘n’ roll to the guitar heroes of today.
-
Finish the month by playing a complete song start to finish!
The Daily Format
Each day is broken into three parts:
-
Guitar Skills – Learn something new you can play right away.
-
Mini Music Theory – A quick, easy explanation of the "why" behind what you’re learning.
-
Music History Spotlight – A fun story or fact about a famous guitarist, band, or moment in music history.
For example:
-
Day 4: You’ll learn the G chord, discover what a “root note” is, and hear how Kurt Cobain used simple chords to make Nirvana’s grungy sound.
-
Day 10: Practice strumming in rhythm, learn how time signatures work, and find out how The Beatles changed pop music forever.
-
Day 21: Explore minor chords, learn why they sound “sad,” and meet Jimi Hendrix, who used them to create magic.
Why This Course Works
-
It’s hands-on: You’ll be playing from Day 1.
-
It’s relatable: The history facts connect what you’re learning to real music you can listen to and enjoy.
-
It’s motivating: Each day builds toward your goal—playing a full song in just 30 days.
-
It’s fun: From Chuck Berry’s duck walk to Eddie Van Halen’s guitar wizardry, you’ll see how much personality lives inside those six strings.

â– Theory: Guitar Parts
Knowing the parts of your guitar helps you follow lessons and take care of your instrument.
Here are the main parts: headstock, tuners, nut, neck, frets, body, bridge, and sound hole.
â– Skill Practice
1. Sit with relaxed shoulders, guitar balanced on your leg, neck slightly angled up.
2. Hold your pick between your thumb and index finger—firm, but not tight.
3. Play each open string in order (E–A–D–G–B–E), then reverse.
4. Keep your wrist loose and aim for even volume on each string.
â– Song Snippet
Practice an open-string rhythm drill. Strum all strings together on each beat, using
downstrokes. Count '1-2-3-4' as you go. For extra challenge, use a metronome set to 60 bpm.
â– Music History Spotlight
The guitar’s ancestors, like the Spanish vihuela, appeared in the 15th and 16th centuries. The
oldest surviving guitar dates back to 1590! These early designs inspired the classical and
acoustic guitars we know today.
